Reigate Politics students take on the big questions about UK democracy

On Tuesday 18 November, a full house at Reigate College watched six Upper Sixth Politics students dive into a lively discussion about how healthy UK democracy really is. They covered everything from rights and freedoms to whether young people are becoming less involved in politics. The event was part of an Applicants’ Evening, giving Year 11s a real taste of what A Level Politics is like, with plenty of audience voting and debate. The session was hosted by Head of Politics, Nick de Souza.

Afterwards, Nick said: “I’m so proud of our Upper Sixth students — speaking so confidently in front of around 130 people is no small thing.” He added that events like this are a great way for future students, and their parents, to see what Politics at Reigate is all about.

Special thanks to our wonderful Upper Sixth Politics students Ella B, Henry O, Georgia M, Joe W, Jasmin S and Hammam E for taking part, and for sharing their valuable insights into College life.
