On 10th October, 28 Upper Sixth BTEC Travel & Tourism students visited Virgin Atlantic’s Crawley base to learn more about recruitment methods in the travel and tourism sector and gain an insight into how the company is marketed.
The students were shown the mock-ups of planes, known as rigs, where Virgin Atlantic cabin crew are trained, and so the day started in one such rig, with a presentation on brand awareness, customer loyalty and service recovery. The students then had the opportunity for a Q&A session with three cabin crew trainers before taking part in group work and presenting their findings to the panel.
The trip ended with a tour of the first-class rig, which has also played host to Daniel Craig when it was used as a film set for one of the James Bond films!
As well as receiving individual certificates in recognition of the day’s experience, the students left with a greater understanding of what it is like to work in the travel and tourism sector, and specifically for Virgin Atlantic.
