English Lecture

Reigate College was delighted to welcome three lecturers from the University of Sussex’s English Faculty who came in to College to speak to A Level English Literature and English Language & Literature students on Monday 9th March.

Their lectures focussed on the contexts and language of Shakespeare’s plays, with links to Twelfth Night and Othello, giving students valuable and thought-provoking insights into their set texts in preparation for their exams. Students also had the chance to hear a presentation on English degrees and careers.

As well as offering two choices of English A Level, Reigate College provides opportunities to get involved in a range of related extra-curricular activities to support students’ English studies. Here are some of the activities on offer this year:

  • Theatre trips, including Translations (National Theatre), Twelfth Night (Wimbledon Theatre and the Globe), Frankenstein (National Youth Theatre)
  • Creative Writing Club on a Wednesday lunchtime
  • Book Group on a Monday lunchtime
  • Young Reporters Scheme
