Congratulations to Niamh Chavasse, Riana Islam, Rachel Perkins and Hannah Reader who were invited to take part in the 2020 ‘Maths Olympiad for Girls’ held this October, on the back of their outstanding results (Gold or Silver Certificates) in last year’s UKMT Senior Maths Challenge.
Niamh and Riana both came in the top 25% of entrants, but all four girls did extremely well, rising to the challenge of tackling Maths problems that were quite different to what they would normally encounter on their A Level Maths and Further Maths courses.
Maths teacher David Neumann, who organises the challenge at the College commented, “I hope their involvement in the competition will encourage more young women mathematicians to take their Maths to the highest possible level. Reigate College students will again be taking on the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge on Thursday 5th November and it looks as though we’ll have a record number of entrants this year.”
