My 99 year-old Great Grandad was in the Royal Navy and served on D-Day, so he’s been a huge inspiration to me. I was an Army Cadet for four years which gave me an introduction to the military, but it was definitely the prospect of seeing the world that drew me to the Navy.

The self discipline that I was encouraged to develop at Reigate College has really helped me adjust to a military career. Studying Public Services gave me a useful insight into military life and taking part in the Royal Marines course day gave me a good idea of the fitness level required.
