How and why did you decide which subjects to study?
I chose Fine Art, Sociology and Media Studies because I think they go really well together. It’s fascinating thinking about how artistic aspects of everyday life impact people. For example, how an advert, mural, or film can affect a person’s mood. I wanted to understand how this happens, how meaning is constructed and how I too can create art that impacts people’s emotions.
What do you like most about being a student at Reigate College?
I really like the increased independence. The College feels a like a mini-university campus, where you are free to come and go, meet with friends, study in the ILC (Independent Learning Centre), and attend lessons that are of genuine interest to you.
If you’re an art student, you can also work in the art classroom during break and lunchtime.
What’s your plan for when you leave College?
I’m planning on going to Norwich University of the Arts to study Games Art and Design, to one day become an Environmental Artist for video games.
This career path was suggested to me during one of my Aspire lessons, which opened my eyes to the variety and amount of creative jobs available.
I’m on the Visual Arts Career Pathway at College and my Upper Sixth tutor helped me prepare a successful application and portfolio.
