Why did you choose Reigate College?

I couldn’t do Textiles at my old school so that was definitely a reason for moving, plus College feels like the next step towards university. It’s good to have a bit more freedom and to get used to working more independently. I use my free periods for catching up on College work.

How and why did you decide which subjects to study?

I chose the subjects I’m most passionate about – and these weren’t necessarily the ones I did best in at GCSE! I thought it was important to choose subjects I was interested in exploring further, as well as them working nicely alongside each other.

Have you been involved in any extra-curricular activities?

I’m currently coming to the end of my Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award, which has been a fulfilling experience and great to put on my CV. Through my Fashion & Textiles course, I’ve been inspired to take up different creative hobbies, which has broadened my skills outside of the curriculum. Similarly, studying English Literature means I spend a lot of my free time reading around my set texts.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m hoping to study History and English as a joint degree at Edinburgh University, where I’ll have the opportunity to do modules in other subject areas such as French or Classics. Eventually I’d like to go on to specialise in Historical Costume Design for film or theatre.
