How and why did you decide which subjects to study?

I enjoyed History at school and was interested in the topics covered on the Modern History course; I liked the variety of books and plays on the English Lit course and the historical and literary aspects of the Classical Civilisation Course.

What have you enjoyed most about your courses?

It’s been amazing to study the subjects I’m passionate about in so much depth.

A particular highlight of the Modern History course was the trip to Berlin in the summer, where we got to see famous places like the Berlin Wall that were central to our Cold War course.

I’ve also loved doing the Level 2 Latin course alongside my A Levels – it’s great to learn such a fundamental language of Western civilisation.

Have you been involved in any activities outside lessons?

As well as D of E, I became a Student Ambassador for the Holocaust Educational Trust after a trip to Auschwitz, which is aimed at making young people more aware of the Holocaust. I also attended History Plus sessions in the Lower Sixth which were great for debating historical matters beyond the curriculum.

What are your plans for the future?

I’ve had offers for a History degree at St. Andrews and Durham University, and I’m still deciding where to go.
